About the IF4IT
The International Foundation for Information Technology (IF4IT) was established in 2008 and is dedicated to establishing, sharing, and promoting IT industry standards, policies, best practices, and guidelines in information technology.
The foundation performs research and publishes results that add real value to IT operations, management, and leadership.
Our Goals
The foundation’s goals are simple. Create, publish, and share knowledge that helps IT professionals at any level of their organization recognize real value, both for their IT organization and for the business it serves.
The IF4IT is about achievable solutions that solve real problems, with the explicit intent to:
- Decrease your time to value,
- Increase your quality levels, and
- Drive your costs down.
And, while we may share theory sometimes, we’ll classify it as such and do our best to focus on materials that actually work and add real value.
How is IF4IT different?
The industry is overloaded with many different “best practice” and “certification” frameworks. Some even overlap and conflict. There’s ISO/IEC 20000, ITSMF, ITIL, MOF, ASL, BiSL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 38500, VAL IT, CGEIT, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, SOC 2, PMP, PRINCE2, FEAF, Zachman Framework, TOGAF/IT4IT, and so much more.
Each lends some value in some way or another for specific areas of IT, but few, if any, truly try to solve problems at the IT leadership and management levels that try to run IT as a meaintream business function. Very few enterprises implement any of these frameworks to the letter because of how much bloat comes with them. In fact, if you implement many of these frameworks to the letter you’ll find that your operational costs go up instead of down, and your time-to-value increases instead of decreases.
